“Make your product easier to buy than your competition, or you will find your customers buying from them, not you.”
– Mark Cuban
Building a successful online school or teacher’s training program with today’s technology is easier than ever before. You don’t need to be a millionaire or a trust fund baby to begin your enterprise. The internet provides us with a plethora of resources to choose from, many of them are available for free, or at a very affordable level. Take advantage of these offerings and utilize the tools to launch your online courses properly.
Focus On Your Goals – Have a clear idea of what you are looking to achieve. Create a plan with your content, keeping your target audience in mind. The roadmap of your program should have major points focusing around the goal of your content.
Build a Website – Build a website that will prove your credibility to the potential client base. Your website is the most useful marketing tool you have, it’s the gateway into your training program. It should include information on you, the faculty, the content, and the services you offer.
Listen to Your Audience – One of the biggest mistakes we see made by online programs is that they do not fully understand their student’s needs. Be sure to interact with your students, and ask for honest feedback. Don’t guess on what you think they might be looking for, KNOW what they are looking for. Let them help you create a comprehensive curriculum to drive your business further.
Market Yourself - Just creating a website is not enough anymore. Improve SEO and write your website’s copy in a compelling way using frequently searched keywords so that your site will rank high on the results pages of major search engines (like Google and Bing). Write a blog that will grab your target audience’s attention and identify you and your school as a thought leader in the industry.
Stay in Touch with Your Audience - Once you started to amass your student base, reach out to them on a regular basis. Stay organized. When you are busy trying to build your program, it is easy to overlook the needs of your existing students. Set aside a time on a recurring basis to touch base with them. Check in and ask for feedback, it’s a great way to see how you can better serve them.
